Can I Get a Copy of my P45 from HMRC?
If you have lost your P45 you cannot get a replacement, instead your new employer may give you a 'starter checklist' or ask you for the relevant details about your finances to send to HM Revenue and Customs
If you have lost your P45, here’s what you should do:
Inform Your New Employer: Let your new employer know that you do not have your P45. They will still be able to set up your tax code correctly by using a ‘starter checklist’ or by asking you for relevant financial details.
Complete the Starter Checklist: Your new employer may provide you with a starter checklist (previously known as a P46). This form helps determine the correct tax code for your salary. You will need to provide information about:
Your personal details (name, address, National Insurance number, etc.)
Your previous employment
Any other sources of income
Whether you have a student loan
Provide Financial Details: If your employer doesn’t provide a starter checklist, they will ask you for the following details to inform HMRC:
Your last employer’s name and address
Your employment end date
Your total earnings and tax paid during the current tax year (you can find this information on your last payslip from your previous job)
HMRC Adjustments: Once your new employer has submitted the starter checklist or relevant financial details to HMRC, HMRC will issue a tax code. Your new employer will use this tax code to calculate how much tax should be deducted from your salary.
Check Your Tax Code: After starting your new job, check your payslip to ensure the correct tax code has been applied. If you think your tax code is incorrect, you can contact HMRC to correct it.

Additional Tips:
Keep a copy of your last payslip from your previous employer as it contains useful information that might be needed for the starter checklist.
Check your tax code regularly, especially after changing jobs, to ensure you are being taxed correctly.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your tax affairs are in order even without a P45.
